On Sunday, Apr. 6, Rosedown State Historic Site honors and celebrates Scottish culture with National Tartan Day.  Daniel Turnbull, original owner of Rosedown, was of Scottish descent through his father, John Turnbull of Dumfriesshire, Scotland.  For National Tartan Day, Rosedown will display the Turnbull Clan flag, decorate the house with the Turnbull tartan, and relate the Scottish history behind the Turnbull name. On Thursday, Apr. 10, Rosedown will be participating in the annual “Love the Boot Week,” Louisiana’s largest, state-wide litter removal and beautification effort.  Volunteers are invited to join site staff in helping to beautify our State by cleaning Rosedown’s frontage acreage along Louisiana Highway 10. Rosedown State Historic Site is located on LA Highway 10 in St. Francisville, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, off US Highway 61. On Saturday, Apr. 12, area children and their parents can spend a day at Rosedown State Historic Site celebrating spring with a Nineteenth-Century Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of the plantation.  Interpretive Ranger Sasha Traña will greet participants and lead the Easter Egg Hunt, which will begin promptly at 2 p.m., with participants meeting on the back porch of the Main House.  Following the Hunt, nineteenth-century games will be featured.  Participating children are encouraged to bring their own Easter baskets.
